SHIP REPAIR SUPERINTENDENT

The Lightship Group, LLC is seeking applications for Ship Repair Superintendent.

This position demands the application of “good marine practice” for the safe, productive and efficient performance of shipboard repair and maintenance work performed aboard various ships at various job sites (pierside and at shipyards) where our contracts are being performed. Responsibilities include work-force leadership, direction and motivation through the lead men in the mechanical, structural, pipefitting, electrical, maintenance and general services departments. Knowledge of government DFARS and FARS with standard specifications and general requirements for agencies such as MSC, USCG, USN, NOAA, and MarAd is a must. This highly organized individual will ensure that all work is carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible manner with acceptable productivity and quality levels, and within the scope of the work specification. The Superintendent shall issue and pursue change orders for work outside of specifications scope, and be responsible for project profitability.

The Ship Repair Superintendent will be a high school graduate with a relevant post secondary technical diploma or trade certification. Experience in a supervisory position for 5-7 years in the marine repair industry will round out your credentials.

The successful applicant will display a high standard of business conduct and ethics and deal with all situations and issues with integrity and honesty. A great communicator the Superintendent will have good command of the English language, both verbal and written along with excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills, and an ability to read and understand technical specifications and blueprints. As well the successful applicant will have positive and productive negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations and relevant equipment and tools in the industry is expected.

Certified Welder

Handle all aspects of Ship and Shop Welding Projects. Looking for CERTIFIED Welders in Stainless Steel, Pipe Welding, Cuni-Pipe. Ability to read blue prints, take initiative on jobs to fulfill requirements within a timely manner, and take field measurements. Ability to pass ABS/AWS certification tests a plus. You must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel throughout New England.





Fabricator, Pipe Fitter

Handle all aspects of ship and Shop Welding Projects. Ability to read blue prints, ABS Certified a PLUS. Take initiative on jobs to fulfill requirements within a timely manner, field measurements, read blue prints. Ability to work under limited supervision. You must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel throughout New England.





General Laborer

Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to work well with others. Forklift cert a plus. Must be able to pass a company physical.





Painters Needed

Experience required; must have knowledge of painting techniques and painting equipment; must have knowledge of equipment maintenance; must be able to lift 50 lbs.





Mechanical Assemblers

Experience required; must be able to use rivet gun and drill; must be able to use various adhesives; must be able to stop production and quickly report problems to Shift Supervisor. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.





Sheet Metal Workers

Experienced; must be able to read blue prints and measure accurately; must be able to operate a 10 foot pneumatic shear. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
